This hole was changed in 1998 to lengthen it and increase the dog-leg. Only the very big hitters can still cut the corner as it requires a 250 yard carry. The rough on the left is deep and will penalise those unsuccessful attempts at the longest drive. A long second shot can reach the green and set-up a closing birdie but beware of the two bunkers protecting the green and the two fairway bunkers catching those short on their second shot. The green is the largest at Carlow and has a few rolling undulations.
