Captains' Welcome

A welcome from Captain Eddie Darcy and Captain Deirdre Nolan.

Welcome to Carlow Golf Club; a course that has the richly deserved reputation of being one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland. It is our unique, natural landscape that remains dry all year round that makes Carlow an ideal club for visiting golfers and an excellent club to join as a member.

Carlow Golf Club is currently ranked 31st in Golf Digest Magazine’s “Top 100 Golf Courses in Ireland”. Ryder Cup star Christy O’Connor Junior once described Carlow’s 16th as the finest 16th hole in the country and said of the course that it was “not to be missed”. The eminent Irish Independent golf columnist Liam Kelly also said that Carlow is “truly a gem”. It is therefore not surprising that our mission for 2026 is to spread the word about this great course so that many more visitors and new members can enjoy the Carlow golfing experience.

This year we are delighted to welcome back the many golf societies who come to Carlow Golf Club each year. It’s also a pleasure to welcome a range of new societies to Carlow and all in our club are committed to ensuring that your day with us will be a very special one.

On the membership front, we are delighted to welcome our new members who have joined the club this year and we thank our existing members for their loyal participation in and commitment to the club.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors whose generosity and support we highly appreciate.

Finally, we wish all our members and visitors great golfing for 2026.

Founded in 1899 as the Leinster Golf Club, it’s first course of 9 holes was at Gotham in Co. Kildare, five miles from Carlow. The Bray Professional, R. Larkin, was the designer and thirteen members played in the first competition in July 1899.
